Debt Relief for Peace of Mind
If you are in the process of receiving debt relief through the debt review process, make sure that your debt counsellor gives you all the information regarding black listing. It is inevitable that you will be listed as having bad debt with one or more credit bureaux if you have applied for debt review. The National Credit Regulator (NCR) is the monitoring body in control of all credit bureaux in South Africa and is there to ensure that these agencies provide the correct information in a discretionary manner. If you have been incorrectly black listed or the incorrect information regarding your credit rating is listed with a credit bureau, the NCR will pass the information to the National Credit Tribunal (NCT) who will take the necessary steps to have the situation rectified.

Your Clear Debt credit counsellor is not only there to offer you the best advice on debt relief but can also intercede on your behalf with the various credit bureaux and get correct updated information on all your credit listings and ratings. Once you have cleared a debt with a creditor, your counsellor can also help have you name and listing removed from the relevant credit bureau. The information held by the credit bureaux must also reflect your debt review status which means that any credit provider running a credit check will not be able to offer you credit while you are in this process. Make sure you know what your rating is at all times and work to ensure that your blacklisting is removed as quickly as possible.
