King Air 200
The Beechcraft Super King Air is a family of twin-turboprop aircraft produced by the Beech Aircraft Corporation of America. The King Air 200 series is just one of the models in this family, which also includes the King Air 300 series. There are more than 11 variants of the King Air 200 series, some of which were specifically built for the US Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps.
The word “Super” has now been dropped from the descriptive for this aircraft, which has been in continuous production since 1974, the longest production run of any civilian turboprop aircraft in its class. It has outlasted all of its previous competitors and as of 2007 the only other aircraft in its class is the Piaggio Avanti. More than 45 countries operate the military version of this airplane.
Special versions of the King Air 200 have included models with a cargo door, surveillance models able to take a photographic belly pack, with surveillance radar and with special dome-shaped windows for observers to see what is immediately beneath the aircraft. There have been well over 3,000 aircraft built over the years. Cruise speed of the King Air 200, which can carry 13 passengers and a crew of 2, is 289 knots at 25,000ft with a range of 1,800nms on maximum fuel load with a 45 minute reserve. The maximum take-off weight is 12,500lbs.
