The All New Google Chrome Browser

At eTraffic we couldn’t wait for Google to launch their new web browser named Google Chrome which was originally announced to be scheduled for launch on the 3rd of September 2008. Playing in the same field of established web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox, Google Chrome was first launched on the 2nd of September 2008 as a beta version before the public stable release happened on the 11th of December of the same year. Making use of a WebKit layout engine and application framework Chrome derived its name from the graphical user interface frame, otherwise known as “chrome”, of web browsers.

It has to be said that Google Chrome is by far one of the most stylish web browsers available, and as an added bonus to its uniqueness it also allows its users to pick their very own theme. The Google Chrome themes are a fusion of art meets technology. This means that you can choose exactly how you want your Chrome to look like by picking one from their various genres that sport quite a number of designs and Artist Themes. Some of the artists that have contributed their talents for the creative themes include the likes of Jonathan Adler, Oscar de la Renta, Tom Sachs, Donna Karan, Dolce & Gabbana, Mariah Carey, and many many more.

As for us at eTraffic one of the things we love most about this all new Google Chrome is its HTML5 capabilities.

But ok, let’s get back to the nitty-gritty that is Google Chrome. One of the factors that led Google to create their very own browser was that they too, like you and me, make use of web browsers on daily basis to search, chat, shop, read news, email and collaborate with friends and workers, and this all by means of a browser. It was this thought that set the ball in motion as to creating their very own browser that would add value to their users, not to mention help drive innovation of the online sphere. Now as you can imagine Google likes to be one step ahead and in order to remain in that position they had to rethink their approach to the design of their browser. As the web is constantly evolving they couldn’t just provide us with just another web browser but a browser that was also a modern platform for web pages and applications – which is exactly what they did.

Now for us at eTraffic it is important that a web browser is able to run the complex web applications which we apply to our clients’ websites as efficiently as possible. On the other hand most users don’t really care much about the browser but more about how quickly they will get to the website, pages and applications that they want. With this in mind Google Chrome was designed and engineered to be clean and fast, getting out of your way and where you want to be, i.e. the websites and pages that we create. Google was able to do this by keeping each tab in an isolated “sandbox”.  By doing so this prevents one tab from crashing another (which is utterly annoying when it does happen), and also to improve the protection from rogue sites. Overall Google Chrome improved the speed and responsiveness of the browser which allows you and me to get where we want to be in seconds. On top of this Google also built a more powerful JavaScript engine, known as the V8. With the power of the V8  we at eTraffic can already begin our next generation of web applications to help better your website.

Currently it has been more than a year since Google Chrome was first introduced to us and as you well know everything online evolves at rapid speed. The same goes for Chrome. In the last year Google has been able to update their browser with 51 developer, 21 beta and 15 stable updates, not to mention fix 3505 bugs. And hot on the heels of these updates comes their brand new stable release which means for us an even faster browser with even fresher designs of its most favourite features. Going from strength to strength the new version of Google Chrome is the fastest yet! The “new tab” feature was also redesigned so that when you click on a new tab to be opened it provided with thumbnails of your most favourite and visited websites. Furthermore you can customise your new tab page by pinning the preferred thumbnails so that they won’t disappear even when your browsing habits change. One of the coolest features of Google Chrome is their Omnibox which acts as a search- and web address bar.  When you type in the Omnibox it will provide you with a drop-down menu of sites that includes suggested sites, bookmarks, sites in your browsing history as well as searches. How very convenient!

As for us at eTraffic one of the things we love most about this all new Google Chrome is its HTML5 capabilities. When optimising your website we’ll be able to embed videos on your page as easily as we do regular images, which furthermore allows the user to play the video without needing a plug-in. This makes it so much easier for us to design and develop a website for your company will the most innovated applications and features available which your users will be sure to love. If you would like for us to design or even redesign your website to fit the bill of the latest technology simply contact us so that we might help you market your website specifically for the all new Google Chrome browser.
